Americana

Americana is a five part songcycle based upon texts from various American sources.

I: Bob Ross, lets give him a Song Bob Ross
In the "Joy of Painting" television show (1983 - 1994) Mr.Bob Ross taught in a one-of-a kind manner his painting technique. His extremely relaxed presentation interwoven with funny and filosophical remarks made Mr.Ross a very wellknown painter and television personality.

The composer bundled some of his quotes into a song: Used Bob Ross Quotes (pdf)

The intro and coda of the song are taken from the tune of the Joy of Painting television show, Interlude by L.Owens.

II: Manta Apaga Fogo Manta Apaga Fogo
May sound like Koyaanisqatsi but of course is much more profound.

III: Team America - Guy In Bar Philosophy Team America
Team America: World Police is an amazing and very very funny film (wiki) all created in Supermarionation (Thunderbirds!).

The song's text is taken from the philosophical remarks by the drunk 'Guy in Bar Scene: There's three kind of people.....
no audio/video available

IV: The Bold and the Beautiful Spoiler Alert!! The Bold and the Beautiful
The Bold and the Beautiful premiered on March 23, 1987 and in 2022 it's still ongoing.

As the cast is limited anyone appearing has had (a) relation(s) with anyone else :), and that's what the song is about.

V: New England New England
This time a serious song: a nice picture of New England where Charles Ives grew up and lived.

The text derives from the poem New England by Albert Laighton (1829-1887).
