Of all programmatic pieces of the composer the 10th String Quartet is the strangest, as it has nothing to do with the german ´Schwarzwald´ (nor anything else) except for the fact that the composer wrote it there (part 3, an arrangement of "Wir sind die lustige Holzhackerbub'n" may ring a german bell, but that´s a mistake: it´s an austrian song).
